Bridgend

Shelter Cymru’s Peer Education Tip Top project are delivering sessions to pupils at schools, colleges, youth groups and other formal and informal education providers. The homelessness awareness sessions include digital stories, discussions and activities.

The Homelessness Section at Bridgend Council can provide information sessions based on the Myths and Legends Booklet. The booklet is primarily aimed at Key Stage 4 but can be adapted for any year group as required. Topics covered include: housing waiting lists, housing benefit, independent living skills, homelessness legislation and duties of the Local Authority in regards to those seeking assistance with housing, including homelessness.

Llamau’s Family Mediation Service provides sessions to young people highlighting homelessness issues and how mediation works and is a way of preventing young people entering the homelssness system.

Caerphilly, Newport and Torfaen

Llamau‘s Emphasis project works directly with young people to educate them about housing and homelessness in a creative and interactive manner. Sessions by the Emphasis Project can be backed up by the Housemate resource and the Supporting People DVD from the Council (in Caerphilly).

Barnardo’s run an Education Project in Cardiff and can deliver sessions that link into the PSE curriculum in particular.

Swansea
The BAYS School Homelessness Prevention Scheme: offers one to one sessions with young people experiencing accommodation problems, works with pupils and their families through mediation and home support, talks to small targeted groups of pupils about the realities of being homeless in Swansea and what their options may be, delivers PSE lessons for Year 11 classes on the general themes of homelessness.

Vale of Glamorgan
