If you are working with young people, whether in a youth club, classroom or other setting, the following activities can encourage young people to think about some of the issues involved with leaving home and living independently.

The activities are designed to be used in group work but are flexible and are appropriate for individuals or pair work.

Should I stay or should I go?…looking at the different reasons why young people leave home.

Things to do before leaving home…understanding the importance of planning before you leave home.

Can you afford it?
…thinking about what you need to pay for when you're living in your own place, and what can wait.

Finding a flatmate…writing an advert for a flatmate to think about the choices you have to make when choosing a flatmate.

The cost of sharing…looking at the pluses and minuses of sharing or living alone.
